·
Highlights of Victoria Accordion
Club meeting
·
Sunday May 7th, 2006.
Band Report
Old Business
· Ron Sera and Dennis Harley made a practice CD of band tunes and copies were given to all band members. Perhaps a band recording, to raise revenue, could be considered in the future.
·
Mary Ross will play the next Schnitzel
Dinner on June 1st.
Robert Hildenbrand will play for Mother’s Day. Who will play for Father’s
Day?
·
Patty has not found a graphic artist
yet to design a logo and T-shirts for the club, but will have something ready
for Chemainus Festival.
New Business
· An alternate band rep is needed for the month of August because Gerhardt Herndler will be away.
· Beverly Blain is looking for an accordionist to join her band. They want a versatile player. Her number is 381-9550.
· Two young accordionists who bravely played the songs that we all struggled through in our own lessons long ago entertained us; each received a bursary for their performance.
· Joe Morelli gave a wonderful workshop to help us enliven our playing. He recommended two books: The Art of Practicing -- A Guide to Making Music from the Heart by Madeline Bruser & Effortless Master by Kenny Werner. The club members were very impressed with Joe’s presentation; he had lots to offer to all levels of accordionist.
· VAC met with Shelagh Godbolt to talk about Chemainus Accordion Festival August 11-13, 2006.
Next Meeting June 4th.
