BAND REPORT
Gerhard Hendler
- The band
received a check for $200.00 and a thank you letter for the Fathers Day Concert
at the Da Vinci Hall.
- Gerhard
reminded the band members of the Chemainus event, 1:00 pm on Sunday August
13. Check your e-mail for further details and a final list of music for
the concert.
- Arrangements
are progressing for an evening October Fest gig at the Monterey Centre in
Oak Bay on Oct.18. Details will be coming to band members by e-mail.
- The band
has also been requested to play at the New Horizon, Cook Street for a tea
Friday afternoon October 20. Gerhard will follow-up on this gig and contact
the band members to determine if there is interest to commit to this event
OLD BUSINESS
- The Chemainus Accordion Fest August 11-13th,
- A volunteer schedule was given to those present for
confirmation of their times, an updated schedule will be sent to Shelagh
G_B indicating any changes needed
- Chemainus Event programs were available to the members.
- A news media Release was circulated for the members’
information.
- Patty and Wayne Forman, Patty
brought a sample VAC poster for the members to review, looked great. Club
logo is still in progress. Thanks Patty and Wayne.
- Several members attended the memorial service for Monica
Trautmann’s husband Moe on July 25th. Brian Bartle, Kathrine
Pennock, and two members of the Cowichan Valley Accordion club, Ed
Boddaert and Nancy Van Imschoot-Brown played during the service.
NEW BUSINESS
- Information for the Edmonton Accordion Festival, September
22-24, 2006 was circulated.
- Several club members attended the Kimberley Accordion Festival
and they reported that the event was successful as usual. There was some
discussion that perhaps a band could be entered in next year’s
competition. We will address this later.
- John Fear has booked the
Edelweiss facilities for August 10-12, 2007 for a possible Victoria
Accordion Festival. Some discussion took place regarding various possible
venues. This event will be a big undertaking for the club and will require
a commitment from the club members, please help where you can and help
make this a successful annual event.
The Theme for August was Tango or French
music.
Club members and guests where entertained
by the following;
- Stan Czemerynski played Fur
Elise, Finnish Polka, Pletionka Polka, Babam Polka and Crocodile Song.
- Ries Vink played French Song,
Italian Song and Napoleon Nights.
- Nancy Durocher played the Janet
Waltz, Life in the Finland Woods, Take Five, 12th Street Rag,
Danny Boy and Lapaloma.
- Brian Bartle played French
Pastry and Vagabond
- Patty Forman played Andalucia,
Jambalaya and My Wild Irish Rose.
- Ries Vink and Patty Forman
formed a duet and played, There’s a Tavern in the Town, In The Good Old
Summer Time and Fascination.
September theme will be Water /Splash,
autumn music.
