 NEW  BUSINESS

Members were asked if they would be interested in having an accordionist give a workshop for tips on playing the accordion at one of our monthly meetings. If there are any topics of particular interest to members, they should e-mail their ideas to an executive member.  Members supported to concept of having an instructional accordion workshop. Irv Lang put forth Joe Morelli’s name and offered to contact him to see what his charges would be and to see if he was available.

PERFORMERS

We were fortunate to have a young guest perform for us today.  Jadzia Christensen, an accordion student from Tempo Trend gave a very musical performance Of Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes, The Big Parade, Camptown Races.

Arnie Krenn and Irv Lang teamed together calling themselves Stroke Duo. They played Lara’s Theme from Dr. Zhivago. They thought they were playing one number, but there were requests for a few more encores for members to enjoy.

Karl Hergt brought a dark blue Zupan to the meeting. He thought members would be interested in seeing this unique model.

Reis Vink played the Zupan and dueted with Marc Wald. They played the Schnee Waltz in the keys of Bb Eb and Ab, as it was written for a 30-piece brass band. Marc was asked to play The Yodelling Polka, which he wrote.  He also played several encores.

As the session closed for the day Monica Trautmann recommended that we consider attending the concert of a well known quartet that features the accordion.  Quartetto Geleto will be entertaining in Victoria at the Alix Goolden Hall April 6th at 8:00 p.m. Tickets $31.00. There is another performance in Nanaimo on April 7th.
