Our club started in 2002 as a small gathering of interested
accordion players in the Victoria area. Since then we have grown to be over 50
members who come from as far as away as Nanaimo (2 hours north of Victoria). |
We meet the first Sunday of every month at the very pleasant
facilities provided by the Victoria Edelweiss Club. |
The club has two bands:
a junior band for newer members and players É it practices monthly
starting at 11:30 a.m. The clubÕs
main band, consisting of about 20 members, begins rehearsal at 12:30
p.m. The band plays a large
variety of music types, and performs at various events in the community. |
A short business meeting begins at 2:00 p.m. and lasts for about
1/2 hour. |
This is followed by members playing lively music of all types either
as solos, duets, or in groups.
Often a theme is chosen for that monthÕs music such as waltzes,
romantic, ethnic, folk or any one of many other suggested themes. |
Some meetings feature individuals, if they wish to perform specifically,
or learning workshops and demonstrations on the inner workings of an
accordion. The club is fortunate
to have members who have decades of experience in accordion sales, repair and
function. |
Members have musical skills ranging from beginner to
advanced. All members have
opportunities to play, jam with others, or just relax and enjoy the music and
chat with others about the wonderful world of accordion music and accordions. |
We welcome guest accordionists as well as non-accordionists who
want to enjoy the music and chat. |
